MELBOURNE’S major partner Zurich has announced it will supplement 50 percent of funds raised by the Melbourne Football Club players for the bushfire appeal.

All donations made via www.redcross.org.au/zurich will receive an additional donation of 50 percent from Zurich’s charitable foundation Z Zurich Foundation, up to the value of $500,000.

This will bring Zurich’s charitable contribution towards the bushfire crisis to $600,000, with $100,000 already being donated to the Australian Red Cross and the Rural Fire Service.

“The impact of the current and unprecedented Australian bushfires has devastated communities across Australia,” CEO of Zurich Life and Investments Australia Justin Delaney told Melbourne Media.

“Zurich has pledged up to $600,000 to support bushfire-related charities, including $100,000 already donated to the Red Cross and Rural Fire Service.

“In addition, we will supplement 50 cents for every dollar donated to the Australian Red Cross via the Zurich Red Cross link.”

In recent weeks, Demons star Christian Petracca has led a players’ GoFundMe page in support of this cause, and that money will be submitted via Zurich’s Red Cross link to receive the further donation.

“Zurich’s support towards the bushfire appeal is amazing, and I love that we’re all rallying together to raise some funds for the affected families and communities,” Petracca told Melbourne Media.

“As a Melbourne person and player, I’m proud our club has such a generous sponsor on board, further helping those in need.”
