CO-CAPTAIN Jack Viney expects key forward Tom McDonald to play in Sunday’s clash against Adelaide Crows at TIO Traeger Park.

McDonald, who was sidelined for the opening five rounds with a foot problem, injured it again at training on Thursday.

But he was named in the side and managed to train at the picturesque Alice Springs ground on Saturday afternoon.

Viney was confident McDonald would be right to play.

“I think Tom’s all good to go,” he told Melbourne Media

“From all reports, he’s feeling good and confident.”

Viney, who is set to play his second match of the season, after returning from a foot injury last round, said he pulled up well after playing in Melbourne’s 109-point win over Carlton at the MCG.

“I’m better for the run, so I’m looking forward to getting out there again tomorrow and playing another game,” he said.

Viney said the clash against the Crows loomed as one of Melbourne’s biggest tests this year.

“It’s a special place Alice Springs. We’ve been coming up here the last few years and it’s really exciting to come up here and play in front of a good crowd,” he said.

“You come up against quality teams like the Crows and we've had some pretty fierce battles in the past.

“Any opportunity to come and test yourselves against quality opposition, you always look forward to it. We’re preparing for a really strong game.

“We’ve just got to come out with the right mindset. It’s been a good week from the boys at the club. We’re going into it confidently.”
